Me Posters

The first completed work this year has been ME Posters, which are (funnily enough) posters students have done about themselves.
The pictures below give an idea of the different posters each student has created.

Welcome to Room 2

Congratulations on being the lucky ones selected for room 2 in 2011. My aim is for our class to be an environment that is fun, supportive and challenging as we continue to develop intellectually, emotionally and physically.

I taught my first year at Broadgreen Intermediate last year having completed the Graduate Diploma in Teaching in 2009 at the University of Auckland. For the previous 10 years I had a career in sports media on radio, television and the internet.

I am a born and raised Nelsonian and live in Stoke with my wife Cheree, three-year-old son Leon and daughter Keira, who will be one in April. Apart from family my interests are playing and watching sport and music.

Family

I look forward to meeting you. You are welcome to see me at any time before or after school to discuss any issues or you can call or email. Meet the teacher evening is another opportunity in week three. As a second year teacher I welcome all feedback.

Your child has a school diary for their homework and organisational needs. I will be checking it weekly so they need to have it. You sign this diary once a week to verify that you have seen and checked it.

Your child needs a hat at school every day as it is part of school policy to wear a hat when outside. Please ensure that this and the rest of their uniform is named.

Term One

We are covering two major topics: a health topic looking at relationships and how we interact and communicate with others; and a social sciences topic called “Footprints in the past” where we look at how people pass on and sustain culture and heritage and the consequences this has.

We will also be covering recounts in writing, reading comprehension, statistics in maths, swimming, fitness testing and summer sports in PE.

There will also be a host of opportunities to join groups in the opening weeks of term such as Stage Challenge, rock bands, choir, sports teams and much more so get involved.

Camp

This year is camp year at Broadgreen Intermediate so Room 2 will be spending week four of term four at Totaranui (Nov 14-18). The cost of camp will be $180 and you can set up a payment system at the finance centre.
